My Voyage Through Pakistan: Must-Visit Places

Hello, fellow travelers! Let me share my personal journey exploring the treasure troves of Pakistan, a country of diverse cultures, rich history, and exquisite landscapes. Throughout my trip, I found an array of captivating sites that left me awe-struck and overwhelmed. Here, I am going to share my top picks that you must include in your itinerary when planning a visit to this beautiful country.

1. Lahore: The Cultural Heartland

Starting off my adventure, I arrived in Lahore, the cultural heart of Pakistan, known for its vibrant atmosphere, historical sites, and delectable cuisine. The charm of Lahore’s old city stole my heart with its bustling bazaars, architectural masterpieces like Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort, and Shalimar Gardens, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

When in Lahore, you must indulge in traditional Punjabi cuisine. The food streets in Lahore are a foodie’s paradise where I enjoyed mouthwatering kebabs, biryanis, and naans.

2. Islamabad: The Modern Metropolis

From Lahore, I moved onto Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. In contrast to Lahore’s cultural richness, Islamabad stood out with its modernity, spacious boulevards, high-rise buildings, and beautiful parks. The picturesque view from the Daman-e-Koh, a hilltop garden in the center of the city, became one of my unforgettable experiences.

A visit to Faisal Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Asia, was a spiritual and architectural revelation. Its unique desert tent-like design, set against the backdrop of the lush Margalla Hills, made it a sight to behold.

3. Murree: The Queen of Hills

My next stop was Murree, a hill station located around 60 km northeast of Islamabad. My ascent into Murree was like stepping into a dreamland, with its lush greenery, pleasant weather, and mesmerizing views. Walking down the Mall Road, lined with a variety of shops and restaurants, was truly delightful.

I also enjoyed a cable car ride at Patriata, known for its stunning panoramic views. The journey up in the cable car, with the world beneath me enveloped in a blanket of green, was an unforgettable experience.

4. The Historical Taxila

Just an hour’s drive from Islamabad, I explored the ancient city of Taxila. The city, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is an archaeologist’s dream come true. It encompasses a vast complex of archaeological sites, including Dharmarajika Stupa and the Taxila Museum, where I witnessed the historic Gandhara art.

5. Skardu: The Serene Mountain Valley

One cannot talk about Pakistan without mentioning its Northern areas. I then ventured into Skardu, the gateway to some of the world’s highest peaks in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Skardu, with its serene mountain valleys, beautiful lakes like the Satpara Lake, and majestic forts such as the Skardu Fort, left me speechless.

I also visited the Deosai Plains, known as the ‘Roof of the World,’ offering breathtaking views of the natural beauty of the region.

6. Hunza Valley: Heaven on Earth

My journey into Northern Pakistan ended in the beautiful Hunza Valley. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, crystal clear rivers, and fertile terraced fields, Hunza felt like heaven on earth.

I marveled at the view of the Rakaposhi and Passu Cones, visited the centuries-old Baltit Fort, and indulged in local delicacies, the most unforgettable being the sweet apricots grown in the area.

Last Words

My journey through Pakistan was nothing short of spectacular, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Every city I visited, every monument I explored, and every dish I tasted gave me a deeper insight into the rich tapestry of experiences that Pakistan has to offer. If you’re planning to visit Pakistan, I hope my journey serves as a guide to craft an unforgettable adventure of your own!
